    I moved to NZ for 3 months and finally got a physio offer as a contractor. But the contract stated that 3 months notice is needed if I resign. Do this is a common practice in NZ? Also the number of working hours is 30 hours a week is a legal

    Hi,
    welcome to New Zealand.
    You can take your contract to the Citizens Advise Bureau or to a lawyer to have it checked.
    Citizens Advise Bureau and Employment NZ have got excellent websites - well worth checking.

    As a contractor, you are self-employed. I am not sure how this works, but do you have a visum to permit this?

    Secondy, like pay, the hours and termination clause depend on your contract negotiations. Hours can vary from 'casual' to a regular day. Notice period can vary from 2 weeks to three months.
