    Work in UK

Advertise your physiotherapy job on Physiobob's Job
I am a Spanish Physiotherapist and I would be interested to work in UK or an English-speaking country for a short period of time. I have a permanent job in Spain so my purpose is to work in summer only. Does anybody know what kind of jobs I can access without being registred in the HPC?

    Re: ?

    Hey!

I am an Indian national and have HPC registration myself. I am finding it quite difficult to get any physio job as most of them do not attract applications who need work permits.
I am quite willing to work in a related healthcare sector, for eg. as a support care worker for disabled people or careworker in elderly residential homes, until I find a suitable physio job.
Any suggestion or information regarding any agencies or organisations where I could apply to look for jobs, would be appreciated.

And Nenu, I suggest you start by looking into their website
    www.hpc-uk.org/apply/international/

    Hope that helps...Good Luck!!!

    Re: what is Hpc?

    Hello nenaenelii,
HPC is Health Profeesions Council. They are an independant health regulator that is there to set standards of professional training, perfomance and conduct of PT trained outside UK.

So to work in UK you'll have to have your professional credentials evaluated with HPC and get yourself registered with them. Hope that helps.

    Regards
    Arun

    iscp

    Hi Maduraitherapist,
Seems the prospects of physio to work as a physio seem tougher day by day...thanks for suggesting iscp. But have not heard about it..would u highlight about it...that would be highly appreciated. Working Ireland would be good experience.

There are links to the Irish Physio Association, the HPC and also the credentialling body for the UK (NARIC) on the physiobob jobs website at the following link http://www.physiobob.com/registration.aspx

You might try getting a carer job in the UK as the basic level of undergraduate training means that you won't be able to gain HPC registration in such a short time frame. A magazine called "The Lady" (http://www.lady.co.uk/ladymainframe.htm) has numerous ads asking for assistance. You might be able to get a copy sent to you as they are not on their website as yet. Perhaps on of these positions might fit something you are interested in?

With a longer term view, studying a post graduate course in the UK might more easily lead to HPC registration than any other route. Best of luck

    Re: Work in UK

Has there been any change in the UK job market? 2 years experience here.....would it be unwise to venture over to the old country.

    Thanks,

    V

Absoultley not, if anything it's worse! Aside from the terrible situation for new graduates (around 300-500 applications per junior job), agenda for change bands have now been implemented in most of the UK- as a result a lot of physio's further up the ranks are now on less money for the same amount of work! It sounds to me like nobody is planning on moving up the grades because the extra work and responsibility is now not reflected in the pay grades, for example many senior 1's are now in the same pay bracket as a senior 2 with two or three years experience. As a result I can't see them moving up the ranks.....hence there is nowhere for less experienced physio's to go because the seniors are not moving on....so no jobs for the juniors etc...!

It depends on your experience of course, but at the moment it's terrible! New grads like myself all facing the prospect of moving across to Canada, I imagine it's only a matter of time until the more senior ranks do the same!
