    Work in Germany?

Advertise your physiotherapy job on Physiobob's Job
    Hi!
I am thinking about moving to Germany in 2-3 years. Do any of you know how to get my qualifications recognized? Should I apply to the society of physios or the ministery of health?
I also would like to know how is the employment situation for physios there, would it be easy enough for a foreigner to find a job? whats the most common setting for a physio to work?
I am learning german at present, but I want to know how is the situation there before I start any paperwork (and my partner, who is german, has no idea about physiotherapy!)

    Thanks beforehand.

    Re: Work in Germany?

    hi,
a simple google search did the job.
    Have a look here:
ZVK.ORG - Deutscher Verband für Physiotherapie

    It's even in English.
However, to work in Germany (or to find a job), not only do you have to learn German, you have to be fairly fluid in conversational German. The local dialects are often very strong and will do there "thing" to make it difficult to communicate.

    Good luck,
    Fyzzio

    Re: Work in Germany?

Cool Fyzzio, thanks for taking the time and look into it!
I was looking into that website a few days ago but i couldn't find anything in English... We are thinking about moving in 2-3 years and yes, the language is the biggest barrier but i'm sure i'll become fluent eventually (in 10 years? hahaha)
Is it true that physio can be done as an apprenticeship in Germany?
Anyone knows if the jobs situation is good for physios at the moment? I hope is not like in Ireland...

    Re: Work in Germany?

    Hi,
no, it cannot be done as an apprenticeship.
They offer diploma +/- bachelor (although those are not generally internationally accepted). And there is a programme which combines a German and a Dutch BSc.

There is a German Physio Forum as well.
    Foren bei physio.de

    Regards,
    Fyzzio

    Re: Work in Germany?

Germany is in a tough financial spot right now (like Europe in general), but I think you should give it a try. The German language is a prerequisite, if you want to adjust to the environment as soon as possible.
Do you plan to live in Berlin? It is by far the most lovely capital in Eupore.
