Hi All,
I'm just looking for a bit of information about working as a physio assistant in Australia - specifically Melbourne while I'm waiting to get my AHPRA reg.
I'm wondering, with a UK Physio degree can I just apply for physio assistant jobs without doing any courses - or is there some type of course which needs to be done as a formality?
I'm also wondering, what do physio assistants generally get paid?
Has anybody else taken this route while waiting to do exams?
Thanks,
Roger

Hi Roger,
at the risk of sounding a bit mean, but I am always surprised how people are trained these days to complete complex research projects and are capable to find this forum, but are otherwise unable to look up simple information on the www.
If you need info about a job, put the job and location in google. I put in "physio assistant Australia". The first hit is this:
Physiotherapy Assistants
There you will learn about the Certificate IV Allied Health . Take it from there.
You could also look up the job requirements under job searches in case someone might look for an assistant without the certificate; google will send you to Seek/ Australia. It's beauitfully easy and user friendly and will show you e.g. this: SEEK - Allied Health Assistant Job in Melbourne
Got all you need to know on there as well.
I would suggest to go around, show your face and talk to physio managers at hospitals and/or private practices etc.. Ask directly for a job. It's a good way of making contact and learn about the system anyway.
Good luck,
Fyzzio
