Can somebody give me some advise ...
I've pretty much run out of options...
In 1992 I strained my left AC joint doing a 50kg bench press.....It was a grade 1 sprain which didn't heal....
Over the next six months the head of humerus moved backwards and downwards...The long and short head of biceps was continaully aching.....I then started to get pain in the coracohumeral joint ligaments and lastly the Sternoclavicular joint started moved superior and anteriorly....The glenohumeral joint then started to ache on my left and would subluxate slightly posteriorly on lowering my arm across my chest....
Over the last twenty years I have used my left arm 20% of the time and my right 80%
In 2015.....I sprained my right AC joint in Rome and the same course of events followed .....I immediately saw a surgeon who diagnosed a grade 1 AC joint sprain plus ....He said I had Grade 2 and 3 Stanmore triangle shoulder instability and nothing could be done surgically. ..
I then saw a specialist shoulder Physio working in London. He really helped me with specific rotator cuff muscles and scapular stabilisation excersizes .....
I was pain free for 2 months and regained anterior and posterior deltoid muscle mass....Sadly though the shoulder begain to feel painful again... Late last year, I spent 2 weeks in rehab at Stanmore shoulder unit.....They provided me with the same excersizes as my Physio ....During that time doing whilst doing an excersize for serratus anterior on a ball...I started to feel loud thuds radiating from the glenohumeral joint....(The ball was under my elbows and I was on my knees....I was rolling forward...)
I subsequently stopped that excersize and continued to see my private Physio.....Sadly my private physio told me he could do more for me.
The shoulder consultant at Stanmore reviewed me 6 weeks after rehab.....By that time I had to wear a sling ......I asked for a diagnosis under general anesthesia and a MRI but was refused.....No diagnosis was given and I was told they can only offer pain management and to see a psychologist. ...
Since that time I've continued with my excersizes along with prolotherapy injections every 2 or 3 weeks ......They have definitely helped slow the progress of right shoulder deteriation......However the shoulder continues to deterate. .....It's actually changing shape .....
Im having to rely more on left shoulder now which is making it worse ...
I have to wear a shoulder support and carry ice packs with me.....Additionally I sometimes take anti-inflammatory when the pain becomes to much....
Both SC joints are now prominent anteriorly and both AC subluxte by about 10mm.....
On the EDS scale I score 2......
The only thing I can think of is that the mechanoreceptors don't work like everybody else''s. .....For some reason when I sprain a shoulder ligament the whole shoulder seems to collapse backwards
I've now run out of options and money ....
I work as a Podiatrist but my shoulders effect my life so much now that I may have to give up work.....
If anyone could help me with a diagnosis or advise I would be sincerely grateful...
Yours sincerely
Tim
