A Cardiorespiratory Therapist could interpret Chest Xray and ECG and could wean out and extubate a patient from a Postive pressure ventilation.
He/She could help to clear up the lung and could mobilise all patients in an acute clinical setup..even with all lines and ventilators, drains etc.
Old concept for chest physiotherapy by Chest percussion, vibration, shaking etc,...is outdated...and no Cardiorespiratory physiotherapist uses these days...as it won't give a benefit ...than some of the following techniques..and now physiotherapy in ICU become an easy job
Early extubation and making the patient independent is the key with so many techniques like Manual hyperinflation.Therapeutic positioning,Alveolar recruitment maneuvers..etc .which is really different from a general physiotherapist
Other role is Rehabilitation and exercise protocols

im a physio student...pls help me with cardio assessment...pls...n chest physio techniques...thank you
For Cardio assement please refer a book known as Emergency Physiotherapy
Techniques you could read book on Cardiorespiratory physiotherapy by Elizabeth Dean and Scott and Irwin .
Then make a charted assessment
After reading these books you would be more familiar to do assessment
The assessment will become unique if you make specifically for certain cases
