    Pre-operative patient education

    Dear friends

    We are making "Pre-operative Patient education and Counseling Guidelines- Physiotherapy" for the patients undergoing adult cardio-thoracic surgeries.
    We have the following plan
    1. Assessment
    2. Exercises education includes - ACBT, FET, Positioning and ROM
    3. Awreness on Incision, Ventilator, ET, Lines, Tubes, Drains etc
    4. About respiratory complication
    4. About early Mobilization, Ambultation

    Please help me in this regard.

    Hi .we have did the same in Al Bassel Heart institute:
    we did movie about the physical therapy procedure befor and after surgery:
    respiratory exercises befor cardiac surgery
    work with assisst respiratory devices(couch---vpr1....)
    protect the sternum
    mobilisation in bed ..room...floor...stairs
    sex after surgery
    in addition to the ICU time
