Hi Mat, thanks for your post. Your potential depends largey on the site of your fractures. If they are near the ankle and whether this was due to ankle trauma at the same time e.g. a fracture dislocation?

Generally speaking the fibula does not cause any real issues in returning to fulltime sport. It is a non-weight bearing bone that acts for muscle attachment and as a lateral component of the ankle joint. So the muscles will require some work as will the calf complex, especially eccentric contraction work using the soleus muscle. Most of the issues you can expect are probably the result of the time in the plaster cast more than the injury itself so be patient and give it time.

I would take the notion that you should and probably will be able to return to all activities without any problems. You should discuss it with your physiotherapist and they will of course be able to guide you as to the timings of taking on more and more activity and if you have a goal sport then spend the time with them to rehabilitate toward that goal.

Best of luck
