WHAT KIND OF PREVENTION IS THAT, TEACHING THEM TO GET OFF THE FLOOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am involved in a new project in an elderly rehabilitation hospital to set up a falls prevention programme. I would be interested in contacting anyone who has set up a similar programme, especially if they have used the backward chaining method of teaching how to get up off the floor.
thanks

Check out on the web / or act.gov.au re the Falls Clinic which opens this year at The Canberra Hospital. Our Aged Care physio doesn't use Physiobase but I'll prompt her - she is a wealth of knowledge.
In relation to training people to get up off the floor, bear in mind the manual handling legislation. This is particularly important when teaching carers what to do in case of falls. Where falls occur in an NHS setting, eg ward/day hospital, there is likely to be a policy that states anyone who cannot get themselves up from a fall should be hoisted(not lifted or assisted)
