Contraindications to use in epiphyseal areas

    Taping
I would ask for colleagues views on the common belief that these areas should not be treated in
    e.g. injured adolescents, with electrotherapy.
I have been asked this on several occasions and can find only vague references in my textbooks.
If colleagues support this view then could they state their reasons why ? References to any published work would be very useful.
    TIA,
    Graham.

re: Contraindications to use in epiphyseal areas

Hi Graham. Yes all I remember is being taught that EPA over epiphyseal growth plates was contraindicated in adolescents (anyone during the growth phases). I think the reason was that it disturbed the osteoblastic/clastic/...istic activity in the bone and cartilage directions. I'm not near a text book right now but I look into a reference and get back to you
