    Unilateral Shoulder Testing

    Taping
I am looking for a couple of functional tests for shoulders. I want to test the shoulders individually because the patient is recouping from a fall and has suffered post humeral trauma. Can anybody suggest any simple tests for strength?

    Re: Unilateral Shoulder Testing

    Hi CFsupport!
Could you be more precise? If you're looking for simple strength tests, try manual muscle tests for shoulder muscles. If you want to examine specific structures, take a look at the Shoulder Tests at the Physio Video topic where you will find muscle tests as well. If you seek functional movements, check reaching an object at a hight above the head or grasping a seatbelt and fastening it (whole diagonal movement, from flexion-adduction to extension-abduction). Use your imagination and ask the patient which movement was limited some weeks ago.
