    Maitland mobilization grades

    Must have Kinesiology Taping DVD
    :rolleyes
A worthy topic for reading book, including Maitland's, exploring other approaches such as the manner in which passive accessory motion testing is performed by Maigne and how that differs from Maitland and others. Some clinicians (in the minority) also perform mobilization by a sustained hold 2-5 minutes at end-range, on the basis of viscoelastic nature of connective tissue (Hesch for example in book Movement Stability and LBP: the Essential Role of the Pelvis by Vleeming, et al) and this is a variant of the traditional grades of mobilization. Taking workshops and practising with peers is encouraged. It is truly a hands-on motor skill that requires effort and cannot be adequately covered in the context of this forum. Physiological motions cannot be treated via exercise and adding testing and treatment of accessory motion is very rewarding. The literature is especially good regarding the hip joint, cercial spine next... Best of Luck.
