    Cognitive-behaviour Therapy & Physio

    Taping
Just wondering if anyone has come across/used CBT as an adjunct to their treatment and what the general thoughts of this are? Is it useful? Any quantifiable results?

    Facial treatment

CBT is very useful for patient information - especially for chronic pain treatment. Patients incorrect belief systems significantly impact pain behaviour. Understanding that pain does not always mean that damage is present improves outcomes. Look up Lorimer Mosely and his research from the University of Sydney Australia.

I work as a physiotherapist in an acute mental health unit and I have been trained in and use CBT on a daily basis. I think it is an very valuable tool for both mental health and standard physiotherapy practice. It helps a lot with goal-setting and exercise/activity planning and understanding why we react/respond the way we do to situation etc. eg. chronic pain.
