Have you tried Low Level Laser Treatment. I have used this on a patient who had twisted their ankle immediately after it happened. Within 3 days the swelling was down and I was able to start exercises.
This is about my experience about pain.
The three first times that the patient go, I did sedative treatment and when I begin the exercises they are without pain, if the exercise produce pain I wait and another day I try to do this exercise. This is a good treatment and work for the pain.
Please if you want to say us about your experience please write us.

Olga, what is sedative treatment? Sounds interesting.
Acute ankle ligament sprains usually respond within 24 hours (unless there is severe lig rupture, etc) and walking should commence within 24 hrs. with the following:
1) SoftCast ankle to limit flexion and extension, following the RICE formula. Observe that swelling does not return and be trapped inside the cast!
2) Walk short distances within 24 hours. The SoftCast permits near normal walking.
3) No other treatment used (as there is no evidence that EPA has any benefit over elevation and gentle mobilsation) for a few days then try very basic proprioception work (eg foot on an inflated wine cask bladder) and proceed from there.
