prevent contractures

hi! i'm an israeli pt working in a nursing home with physically dependent patients.could you send me protocols or any information about the pt-treatment in this population in your country?who does got treatment and who doesn't?how many times a week?in which questionnary do you use?in israel we have to prevent contractures (twice a week at least, passive ROM - health ministry requests) even if no any functional profit - and sometimes it even cause pain!so what about cost effectivness and ethics?

Hi sharon. Thanks for your posting. The answer to your question may be best found by posting this message agin in the neurology section. The neurology often has a number of discussions on contracture.

Is the contracture you are dealing with due to non-us of a limb/joint or is it the result of stroke/parkinsons etc etc?
