It is my view that the government are sick of the doctors complaining to them about funding. So what they have done is given it over to them. Now we, and importantly the government, can watch them make a total mess of it. Then the government can say publicly well we tried to have the GPs manage their affairs and they couldn't so now we are taking it all back. There is always a political agenda for making such a move as this.
Of course while it is in the GP hands there will be a lot of privatization going on. I am really looking forward to watching it all pan out.
