Hello, I'm commencing my study in physiotherapy from this year at Uni SA.
I never in my life thought that my first footstep out of high school will be as a physio student. I had lots of things I was interested (including rockstar and the world president : P), but somehow physiotherapy has never got my interest till the end of last year. It's not that I didn't like it, but more that I just overlooked that career option. Now that thinking of it, my biology teacher in year 10 did tell me that I'd make a great physiotherapist though : P
But anyway, while I was putting uni preference, I found physiotherapy on the list with ATAR of something like 98 and went 'wow, that's very high...... hehe I'll apply for it : P' and put it as one of my preferences. Then I decided to look up some information about physiotherapy because I couldn't understand why it had such high requirement.
I couldn't find that much resources available about physiotherapy on net, but what I could find really interested me. I get to work with patients helping them to achieve better and healthier life (apparently many don't really see progress, but I still like the fact that I get to help people with the knowledge about their body that they don't have), I get to have a quite stable career with apparently good income, and can actually motivate myself to exercise and stay physically strong and fit! Sounds great to me.
But as much as it sounds like an interesting path to walk, I'd like to read some primary experience from you established physiotherapists. What is working as a physiotherapist actually like? Do you find it a worthwhile job with which you can be proud of when you retire (with hefty amount of savings in your bank account!)? How good is the future prospective of physiotherapy? What are some suggestions you would like to share?
Thank you in advance : D
