High Heels - A blessing from God or a curse?

    Taping
Personally I love seeing a lady in good set of high heels but what do you think the issues with wearing high heels are?

    Are they good for you?

Do they make you feel good?

    Do they hurt you?

    Why do you wear heels?

What advice do you give to women about them?

Do you discourage women from wearing them?

The goal of physiotherapy is to restore optimum function - that is to move freely and maintain positions without causing damage either now or in the future. This requires the assessment and restoration of efficient load transfer throughout the whole body.

Well for me i discourage them to wear highhhh heels if can the baseline would be about half o 1 inch like that ( for working ladies).. Basically a lot of business women seeking us for treatment because of simple things , they wear high heels and makes them having back pain etc....

Re: High Heels - A blessing from God or a curse?

    Hi Thomas,
    what a fun thread!!! Thanks.
Here's my take (and yes, I am a woman):

    Are they good for you?
Yes, if you wear those that make you feel good.

Do they make you feel good?
    Oh yes, they do!

    Do they hurt you?
    No.

    Why do you wear heels?
Because they make me feel good and elegant.

What advice do you give to women about them?
Wear them on alternating days. Use flat shoes in between.

Do you discourage women from wearing them?
Only those of my clients, who have massive problems with balance.

    Cheers,
    Fyzzio

Re: High Heels - A blessing from God or a curse?

    Thanks Fyzzio and thomasng90

I am wondering if we give high heels a bad name and pre-judge them without actually assessing whether or not they are ok for the patient.

For example, i have noticed that people with flat feet have a natural arch when walking on their toes...

...or some women have a very good posture awareness and their posture is fine with high heeled shoes on and when flat footed.

I think it all needs assessment.

Fyzzio, i like your refreshing answers! Very practical, very truthful and very real! But as a guy, can you tell me why women love them and why they feel so good in them?

Re: High Heels - A blessing from God or a curse?

    Thanks, Antony!

My honest answer: "I have absolutely no idea!"

Don't know what it is with those high heels and I am rather tall, so am not wearing them very often - but when I do, I love it.

There is also to consider that there are so many different kinds of high heels. Some are two inches high, some 4 inches. Wedges are easier to manage than pin points. And then there is people who just cannot walk in them and look utterly ridiculous no matter how high there heels are.

I guess, it is a matter of fun and somehow pre-setting the state of mind you are in , like getting into that Porsche or lightening a candle before you have dinner.

Maybe you should try wearing them.

    Cheers,
    Fyzzio

Re: High Heels - A blessing from God or a curse?

    Must have Kinesiology Taping DVD
    hahahaha. Thanks Fyzzio

Actually i have tried them when i was younger...i don't do so well in them and i have wide feet so they don't suit my body. I am 6'2" and 104kg (at the moment) so heels don't do me justice ;-)

I actually asked the question because everyone assumes they are bad for you...and i like to challenge the establishment!

    have a good weekend!
