I am male age 68, and since 1992 (8 years) have suffered what was diagnosed as 'divarication'. I was told that the two halves of my '6pack' had seperated. The cause , I am sure was strenuous efforts in the course of my work. I went into hospital to have it repaired which was not carried out. The surgeon said that they had repaired a small 'bubble' hernia on my naval. I was told that the main problem was unlikely to cause any great problems and the onle acheivement of operatiing would be cosmetic. If I lie on my back and ease my shoulders up it looks like Alien!. The lump is some 1 1/2 to 2" high and rolls around with any slight movement. Over the period of time since this I have progressivley suffered back pain, and in particular with the buttock muscles immediately below the waist. I suffered a heart attack in July 2002 from which I have since almost fully recovered on medication which I still use. I still attend physical rehabilitation classes but find the butock pain almost intolerable after 2 to 3 minutes of excercise. I cannot do abdominal exercise and wondered if a suitable corset would help to strengthen the abdominals or any other suggestions would help. Thanks in anticipation !
