Physiotherapy University with a bias towards neurological rehab

    Taping
Could you please suggest a physiotherapy Uni in UK or Ireland or Australia or New Zealand which could be recommended for a student who wants to work in the field of neurological rehab and which is well recognised in your circles

Re: Physiotherapy University with a bias towards neurological rehab

    Hi,
all Bachelor (Hons) degrees, whether 3 yrs in England or 4 yrs in Scotland, Ireland, Australia or NZ cover all aspects of Physiotherapy. In theory as well as in practice. This is a requirement (goverened by legislation, I understand).
Speaking for NZ, we do our clinical placements area specific and have usually one elective placement (so, that could be used for additional neuro rehab).
In order to specialise in the area of Neurological Rehabilitation, you will need to do postgraduate courses or an additional university education programme (certificate, diploma, Masters degree).

    Kind regards,
    Fyzzio

Thank you very much Fizzyo. I do understand that all degrees everywhere are the same by legislation but some are more same then the others!? Perhaps there are some schools which are more recognised and considered stronger? As for the elective placements, is this not the case for other countries too? Thank you once again for your reply.

    Hi again,
Perhaps there are some schools which are more recognised and considered stronger?
No, I don't think so. You might prefer one uni to another or one teacher to another for personal reasons, but the quality is good everywhere. Australia has got a list of 'pre-approved' international university degrees, so you could check there. But if a uni is not on their list, it does not mean that their physios won't be accepted.

As for the elective placements, is this not the case for other countries too?
Sorry, I don't know about this. Anyone here from the UK????

    Cheers,
    Fyzzio
