    Major problem / Symptomatic Areas

    Foot - Posterior - Right

    Heel pain

    Taping
    Hello,
Can anyone give me any help or advice in relation to the pain i'm getting at the moment ?

A few weeks ago (17/8/13) I noticed during a run that the heel cups of my shoes felt tighter than usual but not so bad to stop running so I carried on. The next morning My heels were very sore and felt tight, right at the back around the area where the Achilles attaches to the heel. Since that day I've had an almost continuous discomfort/pain to the area.

I've had physio treatment, who thought it might be tendinitis/ bursa and I received ultrasound treatment with a recommended series of stretches.

Yesterday I saw a podiatrist who said I had fallen arches and what he believed was irritation to the bone in the area typical of a Haglund's growth. He has ordered some gel covers and a foot plate device which I am to re attend when they arrive. He did say that he could feel a minimal amount in the area.

Having looked at what a Haglund's growth is I've got myself very worried about what my future hols for me.

can anyone give me any information about what to do or what to expect with my prognosis ?

    Re: Heel pain

The most common cause of non trauma related heel /Achilles/foot pain is the low lumbar spine. Otherwise known as sciatica. Find a physio who is experienced with mobilisation of the spine and have him/her consider your spine before any other body part.

    Re: Heel pain

You can practice exercises which stretch the plantar fascia and Achilles tendon, as well as strengthening the lower leg muscles, resulting in better stabilization of the ankle and heel.

    Re: Heel pain

    Must have Kinesiology Taping DVD
If you didn't have any cramps then you can do the exercise suggested by physio and apply gel which you have, it will reduce your pain and wash your heel with warm water. Avoid over movement of the leg and don't put weight on that heel, It can harm.
