In fibromyalgia, exercises should be given more emphasis on health training not sports training, do avoid impact loading exercises such as: jogging, weight training, racquet sports and other activities that may involve jumping up and down.
Aerobic exercise is defined as any activity that uses large muscle group that can be maintained continously and is rthymic in nature.Aerobic training exercise should be done 30mins,/day. Additionally,strengthening exercises that enhances more of concentric and avoidance of eccentric contraction of the muscles sre emphasized.
Suitable aerobic exercise includes: regular walking, the use of a stationery exercycle or Nordic track (initially not using the arm component)& treadmill. Patients who are very deconditioned or incapacitated should be started with water therapy.
