    Problems with my knee

    Taping
I will try and give as much info about my knee problem as I can because I want this dang thing healed. I am 25 and tore the ligaments in my right knee about 1.5 years ago. I have never had knee problems before this time. Since the initial injury I have re injured it about 5 times due to the fact the ligaments are weakened.

I am not sure of the ligament names but the main one that seems to have the problems is the inside (left side) of my right knee. When I hurt it the leg from the knee down bends to the right.

The last time I hurt it was February so I have no problems running or doing sports etc, but I am very ginger because I can feel it buckle all the time. This injury really bothers me because I want to play sports full tilt without worrying about re injuring it. Anyway the point of this thread is, what can I do to make my knee stronger to the point where buckling is no longer a problem and re injury is unlikely. Thanks for the help.

    Re: Problems with my knee

    Helo,

Juz wondering if you are a physiotherapist?coz if you are not..i think if you see a physitherapist they are the main one who can actually helped you a lot. From wat you are saying from i am actually presuming that after your 1.5 year ago injury your rehab programme was not sufficient enough. Injury involve knee does not only aim to reduce pain, strenghthen muscles the quads, hams, abd, add, gain full ROm but also gaining back your balance and proprioception. These training the propriception and balance training will something that you must do...before you proceed to training that involve speed and agility. These aspects is very important for someone so active like you..before you can get back fully to sport.

for present, i am advising you to wear knee guard before playing game...lastly, get help from a physiotherapist near you...or i can help you out with simple program for you.

    Thanks.

    Re: Problems with my knee

It sounds like the medial collateral ligament you injured. This ligament is attached to the medial Wikipedia reference-linkmeniscus (cartiledge). The signs of a tear to this are catching, locking and giving way.

So I would hazard a guess that you have meniscal damage as well as the ligament problems.

Agree with Jennifer that it sounds like you haven't had enough rehab to strengthen the muscles and thats waht you now need.

    Must have Kinesiology Taping DVD
I would also suggest you to go physical therapy. Take proper rest and follow all guidelines provided by the doc. I am sure your knees will get fine with proper care.
