    Epiphyseal Slip SCFE

    Taping
I have just been diagnosed with Epiphyseal Slip (Aged 50) and I have been complaining of pain in my hips since I was 12 (ish). I was ignored all the time, to the point that I thought it was just me being silly (Everyone said it was knee pains. I have had both kneecaps removed because of constant dislocation)

But the problem is, my Consultant said there was nothing he could do for me, and still being in pain because of it, I'm wondering what my next move should be?

I am on 8 Tramadol a day, 8 paracetamol, 7 x 10mg Amitriptyline and I feel like I've just been left to hang out to dry!!!

    Any tips most welcomed?

    Cheers

    Nick

    Re: Epiphyseal Slip SCFE

I would suggest getting a second orthopaedic opinion and to discuss this with your GP. Ensure that you are referred to a consultant who is a specialist in hips. Patients are able to request a second opinion via the NHS. I would also suggest that you get a copy of the MRI / XRays and report so that you can take them with you if you get another opinion. You need to contact the radiology department at the hospital where you had the scan/Xray and ask them to put it on disc for you. You will need to fill out a consent form and they are likely to make a small charge for the disc.

Alternatively you could self-pay for a second private opinion if you are able to and be seen probably sooner by whoever you wish to consult. If you search, you should be able to find someone who specialises in this type of problem.

Hope this helps and glad that you are on the road to finding a solution after so many frustrating years.
