Unhappy UK newly grads need help!!

    Taping
    Hi all

Like all other new grads from the uk i'm applying for every job that comes up but getting nowhere. I was wondering if there were any senior members of staff out there who deal with the application process and are willing to share any info regarding what makes a good application? I've applied for god knows how many and have only had one interview, which is probably more than most but still very depressing!

Also, does anybody have any info about pooling? I've heard a whisper that some trusts are bypassing NHS job pages and only sending applications to those people who have sent a letter of interest to that trust?

    Cheers

    Simon

Re: UK newly grads need help!!

The whole situation is ridiculous, I'm newly qualified too, I live in south manchester, working 20 hour weeks in Blackpool, with a sunday job to pay for the car to get me there and now another 12 hour over night job to help pay for my half of the mortgage, all in the vain hope that doing the jobs I do (apart from the sunday job) will help me keep my hand in with physiotherapy. something needs to be done but I have no idea what, not sure if postcode lottery is a good idea, or one that works, I know some trusts are only putting adverts on their own website. I have changed my personal spec time and time again and made it to the spec exactly, I have written letters numerous times and also got to the point of sending my photo in with them. I don't know. it's crazy and highly disheartening.

Unhappy Re: UK newly grads need help!!

if it makes you feel any better, i only just got my first post in the NHS last week and I graduated in 2006!And, to add to the excitement its a temporary post so the fun and games will begin all over shortly!!
Its an absolute disgrace especially the way the government keeps banging on about how much money is being ploughed into the NHS. i think most of it has dissappeared into doctors salaries with nothing left for junior posts.
keep your hand in at something, volunteer a few hours a week or join a special interest group to maintain your skills and chin up!!
