Suffering from chronic back pain

Hi all,
I have chronic back pain and has tried various treatments for relief, but they were of no use. I experience difficulty in walking and cannot even sleep properly due to this pain.
When I walk for five minutes, I will start experiencing numbness, tingling and a cold sensation in my legs. My doctor told that I might be suffering from spinal stenosis. He asked me to have acupuncture services from Mississauga. I have also read somewhere that acupuncture is effective for treating back pain.
Will this treatment help in curing my chronic lower back pain? What do you think? Is this procedure painful? If you have any other suggestions, please let me know.
