I have Charcot Marie Tooth Disease which was diagnosed some 20 years ago and now also have Chronic Arthritis. I am really suffering with my knees at the moment. My left knee has had surgery on twice once when I was 17 when they shortened a tendon and put in a pin and then 4 years later when they took out the patella. My surgeon said about 2 years ago that the only alternative now would be for me to have my leg completely stiffened but I think that this is far too extreme and would mean that I would have to give up work completely. The Charcot Marie Tooth Disease (CMT) was not diagnosed until long after the operations and it turned out that these should not really have been done due to the CMT However at the time of the operations CMT was not really heard of.
I am experiencing tremendous pain and giving way of my left knee constantly even though I wear a knee brace most of the time. This is Medicare Brace prescribed by the hospital and have just got another one so it is not that is it too flexible.
Any advice please as I really cannot continue like this my knee is giving way more and more and often is now happening on a daily basis
