Dear Participant,
We are a group of undergraduate physiotherapists based at the University of East London who are conducting a piece of research which aims to harness attitudes regarding the application of Pilate’s based exercises in the musculoskeletal clinical setting.
What is the purpose of the study?
Over the past decade Pilates has been increasingly used as a clinical tool in the musculoskeletal setting. However a consensus has not been formed as to the role of Pilates in clinical practice. Much of the research is flawed in terms of scientific methodology and primarily focuses on the benefits of Pilate’s intervention in the treatment of low back pain. It would seem that the momentum towards the inculcation of Pilate’s based exercises into physiotherapeutic practice has not been matched by a fastidious research base and as such, our questionnaire aims to investigate what influences clinicians regarding the clinical application of the approach.
On agreeing to participate we would ask you to -
1) Complete the questionnaire
2) Complete brief evaluative questions
