    Hello....Possible Hernia?

    Taping
I'm a 25 year old male who plays a lot of sport, I recently pulled up with an injury that i suspected to be a hernia but there is no visible lump. My GP said that without a lump there is nothing he could do. Should i keep playing through the pain and wait for a lump to appear?

    Re: Hello....Possible Hernia?

I wouldn't simply 'wait' for a lump to appear. There are several structures that can get injured in the inguinal area. You should see a good sports physio who can assist with your identification of the injury, perhaps with the assistance of some diagnostic ultrasound.

Once diagnosed you can then work together on a rehabilitation and prevention strategy from making it worse. Waiting for it to get worse it not the obvious choice in my book!

    Must have Kinesiology Taping DVD
few questions for you-why do you think it is a hernia?
do you have any pain when you cough or sneeze?
    any stiffness in the area?
any particular pain on sprinting/ turning/ kicking/ climbing stairs?
any other history of injuries/ problems (eg hamstring tears etc)
interested to know what diagnosis a physio gives u if you go...probably your best port of call
