    Re: PA shoulder

    You should treat it based on the issues you find in the assessment. Where there may be restrictions such as pec tightness, AC jt hypomobility, thoracic spine rigidity, subscapular tightness etc. Just don't over work the joint itself if it is arthritic.

    Re: Periarthritic Shoulder advice

    Its an very important for pa shoulder to be assessed, whether it is acute/ chronic. If acute just go with the pain modalaties. If ok then first start with tens/ift -
    place electrode at
    1} front of clavicle
    2} spine of scapula
    3} lateral insertion of deltoid
    4}below acromion process.
    And follow it by any heating modality , better go with ultrasound but in a proper position { pt shoulder abducted and external rotated ang go at inferior surface of shoulder}
    then follow with mobilization { lateral glide , posterior glide , distraction }. If you like and want complete one just mail me i will forwadr you all the reply. { [email protected]} all small letters.}

    Re: Periarthritic Shoulder advice

    hi !
    i have been treating few cases regularly of periarthritis.. what i have seen with my experiences is, ultrasound works as an adjunct when applied around inferior capsule...along with that, inferior glides to increase abduction ROM. it also depends at what stage it is, is it acute or chronic...i found patient being benifitted by strengthening internal and external rotators using resistive exercise band along with abduction in the plane of scapula..this exercise helps preserving subacromial space making head of the humerus very easy to clear,followed with active wand exercises. the best treatment comes to you once you are very clear about the pathomechanics of the shoulder following periarthritis.. apart from this a careful subjective assessment of muscle imbalances in the shoulder has to be ruled out..this will help you out in targeting specific muscles for strengthening..
