    Looking for Physiotherapist in Melbourne

    Must have Kinesiology Taping DVD
Ideally looking for a physio that does CranioSacral therapy and Roccabardo technique. But would be happy to find someone that does either.

I have a chronic neck and shoulder injury as result as a cellist and have recently moved to Melbourne. I have had good results with a physio in Brisbane that uses the techniques mentioned above.

I have severe nerve pain down the right arm and take medication (amitryptiline) for it. My right shoulder drops forward and my neck hurts, which is easily exacerbated with stress and prolonged sitting posture.

The condition is much improved with special exercises every 2nd night.

    Thank you

Re: Looking for Physiotherapist in Melbourne

    Hello Jessica,
I am a private physio in Healesville Victoria, in the Yarra Valley. Your condition sounds to mne like a C6-7 nerve root problem caused by repetitive posture. My mother and grandfather were both Cellists (he was in the ABC Show Band for many years, and his brother was the principal double bass player in the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra). My family is no stranger to musicians with postural symptoms! I do not practise Craniosacral therapy as I believe - along with the British Osteopathic Society - that it is a fraud and not science based. My searches on the Roccabardo technique indicates that it is similar and includes the TMJ.
I accept that you have had relief of symptoms from your previous therapist. Relief can occur because there is an overlap in hands on treatments that can be effective. I have a problem with the explanations claimed for techniques such as craniosacral therapy, not necessarily with some of the moves.
If the Yarra Valley is not too far for you and you have no objections to my comments, I can be contacted on ph 59624615.
    Cheers,
    Mark Quittner
