    Pilates - APPI or Polestar?

    Must have Kinesiology Taping DVD
    Hello,
I am currently looking to sign up to a Pilates course (matwork to start) to use as part of my work as a musculo-skeletal physiotherapist.

In the UK, the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) is highly regarded. I have just moved to Australia and all the hype seems to surround 'Polestar Pilates'. I am aware there are many other companies offering similar courses but these two seem to be quite reputable.

Can anybody give me some advice on which of the two would be more beneficial to my career?

    Many thanks

Re: Pilates - APPI or Polestar?

    Hi,

I trained with the APPI in England and they are excellent. I know they only recently started running courses in Australia (despite both the founders being Australian!) so maybe that's why it's not as well known.

I don't have any experience with PoleStar so can't comment on them, sorry.

If you can get on an APPI course it will be worth it from a learning perspective!

    Hope that helps

Re: Pilates - APPI or Polestar?

Thank you Katrina, that would make sense seeing as I haven't heard much about APPI over here despite the courses being held.
I've heard lots of positive feedback on APPI so I will probably end up going with them.

    Thanks again!

Re: Pilates - APPI or Polestar?

I would see if Stott Pilates is run anything downunder. In the UK, the Pilates Foundation would be the course of choice (although, unlike the APPI and Polestar, they do very little PR to help themselves in the market).

Red face Re: Pilates - APPI or Polestar?

    Hi,

I work in the Unite Health Management Head Office (we are the official providers on the APPI Pilates Method in Australia).

I also used to work in the UK APPI Head Office in London and agree that the APPI Pilates Method is very well known over there. This is most likely because the courses have been running in the UK for over 10 years (and Europe around 8 years) compared to around 4 years in Australia. Although both founders (Elisa and Glenn Withers) are Australian they developed and launched the APPI Pilates Method in London.

Over the past 2 years Unite Health Management has delivered the APPI Pilates Method around Australia and its fast becoming well recognised and recommended by Physiotherapists in Australia.

If you have any questions you can call our head office on 03 9981 1860, email [email protected] or visit our website www.unitehealth.com.au

We would be more than happy to chat to you and help to answer all your questions.
