    TMJ treatment

    Must have Kinesiology Taping DVD
    Guys

I am trying to track down some good resources or course details for the treamnet of TMJ dysfunction. I have been able to find a reasonable amount of texts on assessment of TMJ problems but nothing on treatment techniques. If anyone out there is aware of a good course or text I would appreciate your advice.

I've heard myofascial release is meant to be great for TMJ, I was on a course once and the trainer said he'd treated a lot of TMJ with myofascial release

    Re: TMJ treatment

Hi there, i hope i can be of help, though i dont have evidence -based effect of laser therapy but i can tell u that throughout my clinical experience in orthopaedic cases and TMJ ones specificly, its been of good effect to use the laser with ice prior to ur exercise protocol at the early stages..

    Re: TMJ treatment

Have a look over these books for detail information on techniques of treating the TMJ.

Management of Common musculoskeletal disorders, Physical Therapy Principles and Methods By Darlen Hertling & Randolph M.Kessler, Second Edition.

Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy, Second Edition, By James A.Gould III.

TextBook of Orthopaedic Medicine, Volume 2, Treatment by Manipulation, Massage and injection.

    Re: TMJ treatment

A long time ago I can remember seeing manipulation techniques in an orthopaedic textbook by authors Corrigan and Maitland, don't know if it's still in print (saw it ? 2000). You'd probably get stuff on it in a chiropractic text book but as with all manual techniques they need the user to develop sufficient skill before using them on patients.
