any non-traditional therapies for Spina Bifida?

I'm looking for new/experimental treatments for Spina Bifida patients. My son, age 3, is a level T12, and is having problems with muscle tone especially.

We had to wait 4 weeks for new hkafo's, and in the mean time the muscle at the top of the right leg & hip has gone into a tight spasm, making it impossible for him to get into the brace.

I'm desperate to keep what he has without surgery.
I once read that there is a clinic in Hungary (I think) which does alterntative treatments for neuro/ortho patients with good results. I can't remember the name though.

His father lives in the U.K. right now, but is also an Italian citizen. So any of the Western European countries or USA would be good for us.
Please e-mail me at [email protected] if you know of anything.

    Thanks!
    Anna

re: any non-traditional therapies for Spina Bifida?

My knowledge of the benefits of this therapy are sketchy at best, but the use of Cranio-Sacral or Sacro-Occipital Therapy in the USA, may be of benefit in helping your son. For more information go to the webpage Upledger.com for the Cranio-Sacral Therapy and they wil have means of communicating with practitioners who can help you. The SOT may be found through the chiropractiv associations web page. Good luck
