    Arnold Chiari Malformation

    Does anyone have any ideas about possible physio treaments

    You cannot treat an arnold chiari malformation physiotherapeutically, although you can treat the symptoms and possibly be involved post op. However a look at http://www.pressenter.com/~wacma/chiro.htm will give some good 'what not to do tips'! (although i would hope no-one would even consider this sort of proceedure these days!

    I am currently treating a young woman who recently had surgery - a decompression procedure for this condition. She has residual problems of decreased control of her (L) UL and LL impacting on her fine motor skills, her high level balance and gait endurance so I am treating these problems.Thus the physio would be different with each presenting patient depending on which nerve fibres in the spinal cord have been compressed.
