    motor relearning program AND Perfetti

    Hi everybory from Spain

I write this lines to make question:

Do you know in what consist the “motor relearning program” create by Carr, JH; Shepherd, RB in 1987, I mean, I ask for no only a little explanation about the treatment, I know that is a treatment that it’s base with a science movement and that try that the patient with a neurological problem as stroke relearn how to move again, using the new knowledge about the neuroplasticity and synaptogenesis, but: how the method do it????

Somebody kwon the “Cognitive therapeutic cognitive exercise ” develop by Carlo Perpetti in Italy?
    http://www.riabilitazioneneurocognit...rs/portale.nsf
    What´s the difference between methods?

    Thanks in advance and regards

Re: motor relearning program AND Perfetti

    Hello Hinelda,

I work for almost 8 years actively with cognitive therapeutic exercises described by Carlo Perfetti in a few italian and german publications. I don't know he has published in Castellano. But I think You would have less problems with the italian language as me ... I have very good therapeutical experiences with this concept, mostly in the rehabilitation of patients with neuromotorial disorders, mainly patients suffering from hemiplegia (including ataxia, apraxia, visuoconstructive problems) and severe brain trauma. It 's a very clever concept offering the patient a sensomotory problem in the therapeutic setting (mostly working with the eyes closed) and by guiding her/him in a proper way you let her/him use the most sofisticated strategy she/he is able to use, instead of let her/him use compensatory movements, what would be the easiest solution, but mostly not the most efficient way to move. Therefore it's possible to reach movements almost free of pathology and avoid secondary complications.

It's not possible to give you an entire image of the concept. If You want we can keep in contact and I can give You some more information over e-mail ([email protected]).

I did also a fews attempts to learn perfetti directly in Italy, but that was not a good experience for me... The communication with the direct collaborators of C. Perfetti seems to me very difficult (language?) and political complications are never far away ... It's regretful because I think that obstructs the concept development in Europe and worldwide...

    Cheers,
    Andy Wolfs

    Hello andywolfs,
Could you please tell us more about that concept? And how does that approach deal with sever spasticity? I am interested in rehabilitation of hemiplegic patients.
    Thanks

"Riabilitazione Oggi", italian society with an interesting magazine, is doing courses about Perfetti's approach in Milan.
