Shoulder support for subluxation & transhumeral amputation

Hi Everyone. My question is regarding a shoulder support for a subluxed shoulder with a transhumeral amputation. I have recently taken over the care of a 72 year old gentleman that sustained a severe brachial plexus injury over 18 months ago. he had a completely flaccid arm and hand and as little to no recovery occurred he had a transhumeral amputation 2 weeks ago. His shoulder is severely subluxed and is now unsupported as an arm sling is of no use. He has some activation of his upper traps and rhomboids.
I have looked on all the usual medical/rehab supply websites and can't find anything of much use. Does anyone know of any sort of shoulder brace/support that would be useful in this situation or is the only option a shoulder fusion?
    I appreciate your feedback.

Re: Shoulder support for subluxation & transhumeral amputation

    Hi,
have you looked at "CVA slings", "subluxation support" or similar? There are so called slings that are in fact upper arm supports which get secured with straps on the trunk.
have tried to attach a picture, but it doesn't work. Look at this:
    DME Product Details

I don't think that they work well for CVA clients, but if the arm hardly weighs anything, it might be worth a trial. Maybe Orthotics can make/build you something.
    Regards,
