We review patients pre-op before joint replacements with education regarding Physio post-op, measure ROM, check social history, check muscle strength and measure them up for a walking stick
I'm currently in the process of setting up a pre-op TKR group. If anyone already runs one or is setting up one I would be interested to know what you include. Thanks

we don't have a group, but we do pre-ax as a multidisciplinary team about 2 wks post op and give them as exercise regime to start. this works well from cindy f
We run a pre-hab group for patients on the public waiting lists for THRs and TKRs. Its a six week programme including lectures on the op, and what to expect afterwards, six weeks of hydro, and home exercises including ROM, strengthening and stability exercises. I'm not sure if we've got any solid evidence regarding outcomes compared with patients without the pre-hab but subjectively the patients have reported it having a positive impact in so far as it diminishes their fear/anxiety regarding the surgery and its outcome. They feel far better prepared.
