In most of the german speaking part of Europe physiotherapists frequently use wht they call "Schlingentisch". It is a kind of suspension cage or frame where slings are used to eliminate the gravity component from one or more limbs or part of the spine during active or passive treatment.

Does anyone have any idea what the proper term is for this kind of apparatus in english? Is anyone aware of any research that has been done on this topic?
