Recently, all of the large manufacturers of walking aids in the UK have stopped making Hemi-Frames (zimmer frames designed to be used with one arm). They report that there has been a decreased demand for them and therefore they are not financially viable. I realise that there has been recent critisism of the use of Hemi-Frames in neurologically impaired patients, however I am interested to find out what aids are being used for trauma patients with both upper and lower limb fractures? We have resorted to using wide base quad sticks but in some patients, they do not offer the same base of support and stability. Any other recommendations?
