Orthopaedic Specialists from BMI Bath Clinic took part in an evening of entertaining education hosted by BBC Radio 4’s Jonathan Dimbleby, at the Wiltshire Music Centre.
The enthusiastic and lively panel debate was enjoyed by approximately 70 GPs, Practice Nurses, Physiotherapists, Chiropractors and other medical professionals. The guests were invited to ask the panel of specialists specific orthopaedic questions, which included:
- When is resurfacing of a hip a better operation than that of a total hip replacement?
- Can you explain whether vitamin D deficiency is a new epidemic or a new fashion and whether vitamin D should be a prescribed drug or a purchased essential dietary component?
- When should a child that presents a sporting injury be referred? What makes a child suitable for referral?
- What are the criteria for deciding whether a patient needs a neuro-surgeon or an orthopaedic surgeon for a spinal condition?
