I love physiobob.
Hi aid,
We would like to thank you for your post. Unfortunately the nature of this post is that it is rather general. I would tend to use a useful heading on your post so people know what it is about and therefore might read it. Also I would ask a question that someone doesn't need to write a book on to answer. Sorry to be so obvious but a general question on low back pain means someone might need far to much time to answer, time most do not have.
Many thanks from all of us here at The Physio Forum.
regards, PhysioBob

I could write a book on it but in a nutshell:
Determine if it is mechanical or non-mechanical low back pain
Identify yellow flags and red flags
Assess irritability
Assess if condition is improving or has been deteriorating since onset
Cause/onset of symptoms/mechanism of injury
Previous history
Medical history for underlying pathology
What aggravates and what relieves pain
Distribution of symptoms
Determine if radicular or non-radicular pain
Assess patients functional limitations
Is this what you were after??
hi
on top of that
psychosocial aspect, state of mind, stress factor, and many more
The concise answer to your question is a very detailed history or a subjective examination will determine the ultimate assessment and management approach of a therapist. What are the factors influencing a physiotherapist as assessment and management of a patient with low back pain?
