    paediatric physiotherapy in schools

    Cerebral Palsy In Infancy
Hi, I am working on my own in a special school for children and am wondering if anyone has some assessment tools. Quite a few of the children are reasonably mobile, having more mental than physical dissabilites, nonetheless alot of gross motor skills are lacking, ie, jumping, hopping, climbing, standing to floor (without just collapsing) as well as things like grasping etc. Anyone with any information or info where to get some would be great, thanks......ps, anyone knows the make of slings which can be used to hoist children (almost adult size) into a standing frame etc. THANKS, Mark

    hi, Mark,
Have you looked at M.O.V.E. as a functional assessment tool? You can find details on the internet. Lyco are a good company to help with hoisting problems. Where do you work?
    Hope this helps

    Hi there
The GMFM is being updated and validated for students with Down Syndrome as well as those with CP. MOVE is great for children with multiple severe disabilities it is useful as an assessment tool and for planning student's programmes.

I wonder if you found Lyco or MOVE on the internet. Could you be more specific on the addresses. Is there slings to hoist children into stand frames?

    re: paediatric physiotherapy in schools

    Mark,
I am a 2nd year physiotherapy student looking for an elective placemet in paediatrics this summer and would be interested in working in a school (if they are not on holiday). Would you be interested in taking a VERY GOOD student for 4 weeks and where is the school!?!
    Louise
