Torticollis in 6 months old baby

    Cerebral Palsy In Infancy
    Hi,

I m a mum of a 6 mths old baby girl. Her head is tilted to right side. My paeditrician said tht it happens as her neck is not strong enough n suggested home exercise, however, I consulted an orthopedist as her condition worsened. She is currently going thru physiotherapy whereby her neck was stretched 10 times each position and hold for 10 seconds each time. Home-stretching was also suggested. After the 1st session, her condition improved but now her head is back to tilted position. Is thr anythg else that we can do to improve her condition, eg, sleeping position, playing with her more on left side, method of carrying her, tummy time? Btw, she likes to sleep on side position and we are also using spring cot. Can these worsen her condition?

Please help, I m so worried and don't think the physio session once a week is helping much as she can't stop crying and it ends up nothing much was done during the session. It was very upsetting to see our baby crying. If you knw any gd physiotherapist in Malaysia, please recommend. Thx.

Re: Torticollis in 6 months old baby

Hello sally once a week of physio session is not enough so better u ask someone for home care. Because once the condition is improved it should be maintained. It seems that muscles around neck of your daughter are week so my suggestion is that to use Vojta Therapy also as it will improve the neck movements hence the strengthening of muscles also. And continue all above what u mentioned.
You are a good mother, best of luck

    dear Sally,

I am a Vojta therapist, but would not suggest this as the best treatment option at all.
Best therapy depends on so many things the most important being; diagnosis & treatment goals.

    Question:
what is the medical diagnosis exactly? is there a muscle tear?
    Who diagnosed your childs condition?
    Were Xrays taken?
I would like to know more before I suggest anything to you at all.

I did not know wat a spring cot was. Looked it up on the internet.
Does your child always sleep in this cot?

Please be so kind as to answer these questions for me.
If you were to send me an email I can send then send you some information about what you can do at home with your daughter.
    [email protected]

    kind regards

    Esther
