    Re: early intervention in paediatics

    Hi!
Early Intervention in Paediatrics means a multidisciplinary service (some like to say transdisciplinary, I leave it to them) including PT, OT, SLT, psychologist, nurse, specialized teacher treating children with complex multiple needs from birth to 6 years of age.
Guess what? I'm an Early Intervention PT!
    Cheers and good luck.

    Re: early intervention in paediatics

Hi my name is Dwijen. I am an indian physiotherapist. I am from ahmedabad, gujarat. I have very limited clinical knowledge and experience regarding cerebral palsy and delayed milestones. I would like to know about the books that could me useful for me and can enhance my knowledge regarding cp and delayed milestones. What should i do to get well equipped with my skills in paedeatric physiotherapy? Should i do a course in NDT? Which are the places in india that can offer these courses? Any help or guidance from any member of this forum will be appreciated. Kindly help me out, thank you

    dear jatin,
starting to work in early intervention is a real responsability. I suggest you read as much as you can about normal and abnormal development. If you like I can send you a lot more information ( send me a email = [email protected]). For a start you could go to Ontwikkelingsneurologie|Developmental Neurology and order the dvd on GM´s = general movements.( Prechtl and Hadders-Algra Go to the Welcome to the World Confederation for Physical Therapy under forum paediatrics for a list of neurological sites worth visiting.
Read as much on motor planning and brain plasticity as possible ( lots for free information on the internet ). Fysiok from france spoke of a centre for early intervention. But early intervention is also done individually and in private practices... it depends on your countries and its medical culture.
Read, study and try find a good paeditric physiotherapy course...
