    Brief Medical History Overview

    Thumbs down dodgy wrist

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
Hi, 2 weeks ago I was playing football in goal and saved a shot, this bent my wrist right back and had to stop playing from that point on. I was 90% sure I sprained my wrist because of the immediate pain and swelling so I went to A&E to get it checked out within hours of the accident. The x rays did not show anything and a nurse ask several 'does it hurt now' questions - it didn't hurt. I was happy that I had not done anything serious.

Within a couple of days I was well on my way to recovery and could do most day to day things with my wrist (write, type etc.) but my problem is, since then it just hasn't improved at all. I have been to the gym since to do weights ask it does feel kind of ok but when I started lifting even very light weight it started hurting so I just stopped immediately. I have since gone for a light run but when I stop and my bpm is raised my whole forearm just has a pulsing pain. Please note that I have been resting it apart from 'trying' exercise as above very cautiously.

Ive been trying to rest it since then but its just not improving. It feels like the problem is on my wrist on the thumb side and ive looked 'fracture of the scaphoid bone' which seems to fit the bill except it doesnt hurt when I put pressure on the little triangle on the side of my wrist in between the tendons. With this injury the internet states that fracture may not show up at first on x rays and may only hurt a bit a few days after injury which is fitting.

Let me know what you think or if you have any other questions.

cant really say if its a fracture or not. It sounds like its a strain (which affects the tendons, and the lenght of time its taking to heal is because of the lack of blood flow to tendons). You should see a therapist. Did you ice/heat it since this happened.
