Brief Medical History Overview
Hand/ Wrist Injury- Armwrestling
Dear All,
I am a pro armwrestler and probably consulting this forum as a last resort to get some opinion on the injury I had almost six months ago during a practise session (with almost no improvement since then).
I had just returned from a 14 hour journey and went straight ahead to the practice of armwrestling. During the practice I started feeling some pain in my hand and wrist but never paid much attention to it because the muscle was warm and it was never too severe. The very next day I did my armwrestlign specific training in the gym using bands and weights. Though I felt some tenuous tingling in the same area during teh exercise, it never hurt too much (i was training with nearly maximal loads). Foolishly the following day I did a long hard session of armwrestling training on the table (armwrestling table), and that is where the pain really started giving me trouble. I never stopped, thinking that its just somethign minor and would go away in a day or two. (armwrestling involves lots of twisting of wrists+ instances where your wrist is flexed and locked with the other guy )
Now the specifics about the pain:
1) Abductor digiti minimi, especially where it connects to the pisiform bone. Additionaly on the surface of pisiform bone where the flexor carpi ulnaris tendon connect it. anything where i have to use lateral rotation hurts a lot. Basically any lateral movement where the pinky side is compressed kills the area. I cant open a jar, drive a car, basically cant do any thing which requires lateral rotation strength. IT hurts in the pisiform bone area and the regions mentioned above.
2) palmaris bravis- any activity where my hands gets pressed against anything hurts very very bad. I cant get into the pushup position, or cant press against anythign at all. It hurts very very bad. Additionaly If for example I make a fist and flex my wrist and apply additonal external force to flex it further it hurts a lot in pisiform bone joint and tendons around that.
During the first few weeks it was painful to even flex the last two fingers (infact they wont flex without external resistance). However, since then i regained my range of motion but the pain in all these areas hasn't decreased. Pain in palmaris bravis subsided during this period but its still there and any pressing against it absolutely kills the area and brings back the pain. It's been 6 months since the injury. I have checked with the physio, who has been doing ultrashort wave diatherpy rehab+ probably ultrasoudn rehab. I have'nt experienced any improvement and it's already been like over 12 sessions.
I have no clue what to do or where to go!
Please help with any suggestions.
Thank you for all your help.
Regards
