Brief Medical History Overview
Slow Recovery
After a none too strenuous 'jog' at end of January, I was surprised to find a fluid swelling in my left foot (upper outside area), which persisted painlessly for a week, before becoming sore (itching, burning, discoloration) and then over several weeks I suffered loss of sensation (foot went cold, loss of sensation, difficulty walking) which lasted throughout Feb and most of March. I saw 3 different GP's plus a visit to casualty, and never got an answer to the problem (variously, I was told could be ligaments, muscle pull, berser blah blah blah) before finally being referred to hospital specialist, who in May has told me I have developed a ganglion which is compromising nerves just beneath the skin - the swelling was a blockage in a sinovial valve - and nothing can be done, as surgery would unlikely be successful.
Anyway, I haven't been running since January, but can manage a walk of a few miles if I grin and bear it, but still soreness all the time, and my foot gets very hot after exercise.
Anyone here can give me advice on recovery from this - is recovery unlikely?
