I am 20 years old, and play soccer. I have been out for 5 months with a hamstring injury. I played my first 90 minutes of soccer yesterday. The first 45 was ok, a little sore towards the end, the second 45 minutes my hamstring was hurting and very very sore the following hours.
I do leg workouts four times a week, and I stretch atleast once or twice a day on my off days. These include stretching before and after work out. During my workout I do jump rope, box jumps, resistance squats, light weight squats, leg press, hamstring curls, shorts sprints, and light cardio, a long with many other exercises focused on strengthening my legs. I can do all this with virtually no pain. Once I begin to sprint, I can feel the pull. Should I just keep this routine up, or is there other stuff I can be implementing into my workouts? I need this hamstring to be better in 2 months for preseason, so any advice would be great. I have an appointment with a physical therapist but not till late july, and I feel I need an assessment now. Thanks for any advice given.
Eric
