    Brief Medical History Overview

    Shoulder Impingement

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
I sincerely hope you can assist with my problem. I was involved in a accident 6 weeks ago which has resulted in painful shoulder impingment to the right shoulder.

Can any one advise anything I can do conservatively to resolve the pain. i.e creams, excercises, diet etc...

    Thank you

    David.

    Re: Shoulder Impingement

    Thanks for responding,

I fell head first off my mountain bike. I used my right hand to break my fall. This has left me with shoulder difficulties.

I experience pain when I lift the arm outwards and forwards. Pain is also experienced when I rest the shoulder on a chair together with swimming.

I look forward to your response.

    Re: Shoulder Impingement

Hi, I have problem to send you internet links but try to find in youtube some tests – “Functional examination shoulder - Cyriax orthopaedic medicine”
-. First make active lateral elevation test (0:23 second of the video) and verify when do you have pain. Your range of motion in the shoulder normally is from 0 grades to 180 grades, If the pain occurs in the middle of the motions between 30-120 that means that you have "painful arc" additionally make resistance lateral abduction test (1:35 second of the video) if you will have pain during this test and painful arc during the first one that means that you can have injured supraspinatus muscle. Good treatment is deep friction massage for supraspinatus muscle, find this test in you tube-“ Cyriax transverse friction massage supraspinatus”
somebody have to make it for you without break about 15 minutes. It is a little complicated but I hope that you understand.
If you understand the others tests from the first movies try to do them and tell me when do you have pain.
    regards,
    Wojciech

    Aircast Airselect Short Boot
Have you already considered asking a good sports physio to have a look at you? Depending where you in Northumberland (?) there's bound to be someone to assess your shoulder. Morpeth and Cramlington have sport physio practices, no idea how good they are. Injuries often go away with time by "DIY" but some hands on professional advice would be better.
